Johannes Gadner is an independent researcher at the Institute for Advanced Study in Toulouse. Until the end of 2021 he was a member of the management team of the Austrian Council for Research and Technology Development. For more than ten years his main responsibility in this position was the preparation of the Council’s annual report on Austria’s scientific and technological performance capability which is addressed to the Austrian Parliament. As scientific adviser to the Austrian Federal Chancellery from 2009 to 2010 he supported the development of the Federal Government’s Strategy for Research, Technology and Innovation. Before that he held positions in research and teaching at the University College London, the University of Vienna, the University of Innsbruck and Ramkhamhaeng University Bangkok. He received his doctorate in the philosophy of science at the University of Vienna after finishing his studies at universities in Vienna, Berlin and London. He is author of numerous articles and publications as well as editor of several books.
